A small alligator measuring about one meter in length sneaked into the Bagel Dock Express shop in Southport, North Carolina, on Thursday, creating panic among the staff. The reptile entered through an open back door while the owner, Jesse Driscoll, was busy installing a new oven in the bakery.

Security cameras captured the entire intrusion, from the moment the reptile slipped into the back storage room and crossed the kitchen to the front of the shop. When the alligator began wandering behind the front counter, Driscoll noticed it, jumped back in shock, and rushed outside to bring another man inside to witness the unusual sight.

In an interview with local news outlet WWAY News, Driscoll recalled the astonishing event. "You see a lot of things here, people walking in and friends dropping by to say hello, but in a million years I never thought I would see an alligator," said the owner, who quickly dialed 911.

Officers from the Southport Police Department and animal control teams arrived at the scene, captured the reptile, and safely removed it from the shop without any injuries.

Following the incident, the local police published photos of the reptile on social media with a humorous caption: "Alligator – Aisle 1." The bagel shop also joked about the incident, writing that "word about our fresh bagels must have reached the swamp! No injuries and no drama – just one very unusual customer."
