Creamy Sauces and Mushrooms Dominate Israeli Pasta Preferences in 2026
Ahead of International Pasta Day, Fresh de Market chain data reveals that over 85% of Israeli pasta orders favor rich creamy, mushroom, and rose sauces, with Pappardelle leading the shapes.

Ahead of International Pasta Day on October 25, the Fresh de Market chain has revealed what Israelis truly prefer when ordering pasta. An analysis of over 200,000 pasta dishes ordered across the chain's branches since the beginning of 2026 shows a clear preference for rich, creamy pasta loaded with sauce, cheeses, and mushrooms.
According to the chain's data, more than 85% of the pasta dishes ordered during the examined period were based on creamy or rose sauces. About 49.3% of orders consisted of cream, mushroom, cheese, and truffle sauces, while rose sauce dishes accounted for an additional 36%. In contrast, olive oil, garlic, and herb-based dishes accounted for only 1.6%, while spicy red sauces such as tomato and arrabbiata made up about 6.5%.
Top Five Pasta Dishes Led by Cream and Mushrooms
When examining specific dishes, the preference for rich pastas is especially pronounced. Taking first place is the creamy mushroom pasta with seared mushrooms, which made up 30.7% of all tested pasta orders. In second place is the classic rose dish with about 19% of orders, followed by the halloumi rose rotullo with over 18%.
The rotullo dish, combining rolled pasta, rose sauce, and seared halloumi cheese, is one of the chain's signature menu items. Rounding out the top five are truffle gnocchi and mascarpone capelletti.
Wide or Stuffed: Which Pasta Do Israelis Prefer?
Preferences also lean toward shapes that complement rich sauces. Pappardelle, the wide pasta ribbon, is the most requested shape in the chain's data, with close to 83,000 orders since the beginning of the year. It is followed by stuffed pastas, led by ravioli and capelletti, alongside gnocchi.
Data also highlights weekly ordering patterns. Thursday is the peak day for pasta orders, followed by Tuesday and Wednesday. More than half of the dishes, precisely 51.5%, were ordered during evening hours between 7:00 PM and 10:00 PM, compared to just 15.5% at lunchtime. Interestingly, summer months also saw a surge in demand, with over 24,000 pasta dishes ordered in each of July and August.
