France Investigates Alleged Military Shipments to Israel
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot announced that investigations have been launched following a report by the newspaper L'Humanité regarding alleged military equipment shipments from France to Israel. Barrot reiterated the official government stance during a parliamentary session, stating that France does not sell weapons to Israel.
The announcement comes after reports claimed that hundreds of shipments involving military components and technology had taken place between October 2023 and March 2026. Left-wing lawmaker Thomas Portes criticized the government during the National Assembly session, accusing it of failing to enforce a total arms embargo against Israel amid the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip.
"We do not sell weapons to Israel," declared French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot.
Official Denials and Labor Union Claims
French Defense Minister Catherine Vautrin previously informed a parliamentary committee that the country does not supply weapons to Israel. However, civil society organizations and labor unions at Roissy Airport recently claimed they had attempted to intercept shipments destined for Elbit Systems, highlighting controversies surrounding dual-use components and export controls.
