Israel Civil Service Commission Implements Automated Block on Draft Evaders
The Israel Civil Service Commission has implemented automated computerized blocking to prevent the hiring of military draft evaders in government ministries, enforcing recent Supreme Court rulings.

Civil Service Commission Blocks Draft Evaders
The Israel Civil Service Commission has introduced strict automated measures to prevent the employment of military draft evaders across government ministries. Under a new directive issued this week, computerized recruitment systems will automatically cross-reference candidate data with IDF records during the digital onboarding process.
According to the directive signed by senior official Nissim Mizrahi, candidates whose military status is not regularized will be blocked from completing the hiring process. Applicants will be warned in advance that employment is conditional upon compliance with military service requirements.
"This is an enforcement and refreshing of existing regulations rather than a new policy," the directive stated, emphasizing adherence to recent Supreme Court rulings regarding mandatory enlistment.
Enforcement Mechanism and Deadlines
Candidates selected for government positions who fail to regularize their military status will receive written notification granting them a five-day window to resolve the issue or provide appropriate documentation. Failure to comply will result in the immediate cancellation of their appointment.
This administrative enforcement step follows a series of landmark Supreme Court rulings instructing the government to implement effective sanctions against individuals evading military service, amid ongoing public debate over ultra-Orthodox enlistment.
