Israel and Ukraine Deepen Defense Cooperation on Drones and Weapons
Security cooperation between Israel and Ukraine is tightening around Iranian weaponry and Russian drones, with Israel reportedly analyzing transferred drone samples.

Israel and Ukraine Expand Defense Cooperation
Security cooperation between Israel and Ukraine is strengthening, focusing heavily on Iranian weaponry and Russian drones, according to former Ukrainian Ambassador to Israel Mykhailo Brodsky.
Speaking to a delegation of Ukrainian journalists earlier this week, Brodsky confirmed that Israel and Ukraine are cooperating in analyzing weapons used in combat. He noted that Israel has received several weapons from Ukraine for examination, though he did not specify the exact systems.
Analyzing Iranian and Russian Drones
According to reports in Ukrainian media, Israel is examining samples of Russian attack drones received from Ukraine, including new variants from the "Geran" family based on Iranian Shahed drones. Ukrainian sources confirmed to Maariv that such cooperation is underway, noting that early stages involved Ukraine transferring an Iranian Shahed drone to Israel.
Brodsky stated that Israel is actively developing counter-UAV measures, including laser systems and other technologies, but assessed that a universal, effective solution does not yet exist.
Unmanned aerial vehicles are the number one problem for the entire world today. Whoever finds an effective solution first will gain a significant advantage, said Brodsky.
Mutual Intelligence and Operational Benefits
As Russia continuously adapts its weaponry and infiltration tactics, Ukraine has been forced to develop new detection and interception methods. For Israel, this operational experience is directly relevant, as similar technologies are utilized by Iran and its regional allies.
At the same time, Kyiv maintains a strong interest in Israeli defense expertise. Israel possesses extensive operational, intelligence, and technological experience regarding Iran, its missile arrays, and drone capabilities, serving mutual interests.
