"Funds frozen, assets blocked": Chelsea player's nightmare continues

Mykhailo Mudryk's nightmare continues: the Ukrainian winger has lost a legal proceeding in England, and the court has ordered the freezing of his assets and accounts.

JJDS Management Limited is suing Mudryk for more than 5 million pounds (about 6 million euros), claiming that he breached a contract regarding his image rights, which was signed upon his move to Chelsea in January 2023. According to the lawsuit, the Ukrainian did not transfer to the company the agreed-upon percentage of his commercial and advertising income. The courts in England have, at this stage, accepted the company's position.

According to reports in Ukraine, a court in London issued an order to freeze the player's assets in the amount of about 2.5 million pounds (almost 3 million euros).

"Mudryk's funds have been frozen, the assets have been blocked. Therefore, we are not worried even if the proceeding continues for some time. Our claim is properly secured," said the company's founder, Femis Sagirov.

At the same time, Mudryk continues to deal with his doping affair. Last April, the English Football Association (FA) suspended him for four years after he was found guilty of violating anti-doping regulations.

The 25-year-old winger tested positive for the substance meldonium in a urine test conducted in 2024, but throughout the process, he denied committing an offense and filed an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). He has not played since November 2024 and holds a contract until the summer of 2031 with Chelsea, which purchased him three and a half years ago for 70 million euros.
