Amid threats: Israeli Navy holds massive exercise to protect gas rigs and ports

The Israeli Navy held a large-scale, branch-wide exercise this week in the Mediterranean and Red Seas, which included scenarios of maritime infiltration, multi-front combat, aerial threats, and the protection of strategic assets. Hundreds of combatants and various naval vessels participated in the exercise.

The exercise was led by the Missile Boat Flotilla, in cooperation with the Submarine Flotilla, the 914th and 916th Patrol Squadrons, the operational headquarters, and other elements. During the drills, live fire exercises and the protection of gas rigs, Israeli ports, and national infrastructure were practiced.

The exercise took place as part of the process of drawing lessons from the fighting of the last three years. In addition to the operational scenarios, simulations were conducted in the Red Sea area in cooperation with the Navy's operational headquarters.

The goal of the simulations was to strengthen control, synchronization, and cooperation capabilities between Navy units. The IDF stated that the Navy continues to adapt its capabilities to the changing challenges in the maritime arena and to work on identifying and thwarting threats in real time.
