Eyal Shani breaks the routine at 67: A surprising move in the modeling world
The renowned chef swapped his kitchen knives for the world of glamour for one evening, participating as a model in the final show of the Department of Jewelry and Fashion at Bezalel. Following in the footsteps of Assaf Granit, it was his turn to shine.

The culinary scene and the fashion world met this evening for a festive and particularly surprising event. Chef Eyal Shani swapped his natural work environment in the kitchen for one evening and walked as a full-fledged model on the runway at the final show of the Department of Jewelry and Fashion at the Bezalel Academy.
The prestigious event was held on the roof of the academy's campus in Jerusalem and officially concluded the events of this year's graduate exhibition. During the show, Shani walked while wearing two unique items designed by the department's graduates, Guy Yarzin and Itam Lehman. The sets were designed as part of in-depth collections dealing with themes of masculinity, identity, power relations, and vulnerability — topics that received a fascinating visual interpretation on the chef's body. The entire event presented impressive design richness and included 33 outfits, jewelry, and shoes designed by the fresh graduates (curated by Polina Luria).
This is not the first time that a leading chef has taken center stage at a Bezalel fashion show. Last year, it was chef Assaf Granit who drew the most attention when he demonstrated his skills on the runway. This year, Shani cleared his busy schedule, left the raw materials behind, and proved that he has a charismatic and powerful presence even outside the kitchen.
