Kicked out of a taxi in Poland for being Jewish: "He saw a Star of David on me and started shouting Allahu Akbar"
A routine taxi ride in Warsaw turned into a nightmare when the driver noticed the Star of David on passenger Ludmila Kolominsky's neck. The driver began shouting, accused her of murder, threatened to kick her out, and pulled out a Quran.
During a routine trip in Warsaw, Ludmila Kolominsky got into a taxi to get around the city. The ride started quietly with a polite conversation between her and the driver, until he noticed the Star of David on her neck. From that moment on, he began shouting at her, accused her of murder, and threatened to kick her out of the vehicle. Kolominsky documented the moments of terror, and in an interview with 'Morning News' she recounted exactly what happened and explained why she was not afraid to film him.
"At first I was scared, then I was terribly angry," shared Kolominsky. "At first he told me he was from the Caucasus and lived in Turkey, everything was good and nice. Suddenly he saw the Star of David and started asking where I was from and if I was Jewish. He got angry, took out the Quran, and started shouting Allahu Akbar."
Regarding why she was not afraid to film him, she said: "I think that is what protects me. This is not the first time in my life that I have heard this. We are constantly afraid, we are told to hide, and I am tired of being afraid of them. We need to stand up and say that we are Jewish."
How did the ride end? "He brought me to the hotel. I uploaded it to Facebook and the Jewish community in Warsaw contacted me; they are working to ensure this case does not fall through the cracks. I also contacted the taxi company, and they said I would not meet this driver again." When asked if she had encountered other such cases, she replied: "In childhood. But not in Poland, the Poles do not want these cases."
