In recent weeks, the cafe has become a focal point of friction on weekends, as dozens of ultra-Orthodox protesters arrive to demonstrate against its operation on Shabbat. Last weekend, tensions reached a peak when dozens of protesters broke through police barriers, climbed fences, and attempted to enter the cafe while customers were inside.
During the weekend events, violent clashes were recorded between protesters and security forces, who were forced to use riot dispersal measures. Simultaneously, activists from the "Hit'orerut" movement and the "Democrats" party arrived at the scene, alongside Knesset members and public figures, to physically stand between the protesters and the cafe's patrons.
