Erel Segal on 'The Patriots': 'There is a culture of fake investigations in the IDF'

During the broadcast of 'The Patriots' on Wednesday, panelist Erel Segal sharply criticized the conduct of the IDF. Segal claimed that a 'culture of fake investigations' exists within the military system, in the context of a hiking incident near the village of Tel, where hikers were brutally attacked, and in which the soldiers who arrived to protect them, Major Yuval Ezra and Captain (res.) Benyahu Malet, may God avenge their blood, were murdered.

The panelist addressed details of the incident, claiming the army changed its initial version. He noted that the IDF initially stated: 'We did not know about this hike.' However, after WhatsApp messages from security coordinators to the company commander were published, the version changed to: 'We knew about the hike, but we did not manage to prevent it.'

Against the backdrop of these shifting accounts, the panelist did not spare his criticism: 'There is a culture of investigation, a culture of fake investigations in the army. Whatever does not fit, they fix it properly; they arrange it so that it favors the army.' Another panelist in the studio agreed with the remarks, and Segal added that this is a phenomenon that has been ongoing 'for 70 years.'
