In Iran, they mock Donald Trump: 'You will yet find refuge in a food truck'

The chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in the Iranian parliament, Ebrahim Azizi, mocked US President Donald Trump on the social network X against the backdrop of his threats regarding the Strait of Hormuz, and called on him to worry about his personal safety instead of continuing to threaten Tehran.

"The American president should worry about his personal safety instead of making empty threats again and again regarding the Strait of Hormuz, before he is forced to hide in a food truck," wrote Azizi.

The remarks came after Donald Trump declared that the US might declare the Strait of Hormuz as "American territory," against the backdrop of the ongoing confrontation with Iran and the struggle for control over the strategic shipping route.

The jab about the "food truck" refers to an incident in July, when Donald Trump was secretly transferred between planes during his departure from Ankara, as part of exceptional security arrangements taken following concerns of an Iranian threat to his life. Donald Trump himself confirmed last week that Secret Service personnel and the military ordered a change of plane and that the transfer was carried out using a catering vehicle.

The statement comes as tensions around the Strait of Hormuz continue to rise. Iran claims that control over the maritime passage is in its hands, while Donald Trump threatens to increase economic and military pressure and ensure freedom of navigation in the strait, through which a significant amount of the global energy supply passes.
