Eli, father of hostage Idan in Gaza: "If we don't enter through the door, we will enter through the window"
Eli Shtivi, father of Idan Shtivi, who was kidnapped and murdered in Gaza, is running in the Likud primaries. He emphasized that he will continue his public mission to seek the truth and ensure a commission of inquiry is established.
Eli Shtivi, father of Idan Shtivi, who was kidnapped and murdered in Gaza, is running in the Likud primaries. On Monday, he spoke with Prof. Aryeh Eldad and Ron Koffman on 103fm regarding his campaign. He explained his decision to follow the path of Tally Gotliv:
"I think the most correct thing is to do like Tally Gotliv, who goes for the free votes, and she will probably take the first place. This is truly the meaning of democracy in the Likud party. Therefore, I expect the best."
According to Shtivi, he is relying on the independent members of the party:
"The free ones who vote, not those who are approached with marked ballots and ready-made lists, will vote for me. Not those who will have a ballot pushed into their pocket or hand, but those who will choose the candidates according to their conscience and their personal wisdom."
He noted that he remains optimistic about his political future:
"I always say that if we don't enter through the door, we will enter through the window, and if not through the window, we will find another way. There could be other political options like reserved spots, the Norwegian Law, and all sorts of similar things that will allow me to serve the public."
Shtivi declared that his mission is far from over:
"My role will never end, because we still need a commission of inquiry and we need to eliminate the murderers of my son and the rest of the hostages. I am standing here on a mission and according to my son's will and his teachings, and I will never give up in my life, until the day I die, on the truth that must come to light."
Reflecting on his son's legacy, he added:
"There are many things happening to the Israeli citizen, he is the one who suffers the most in the world; he gives three years in the army and then is in constant danger of life from attacks or security events. I will do everything for the Israeli citizen so that he will have the best possible in this country. This was Idan's teaching."
