El Nino to Bring Stormy 2026-2027 Winter to Israel with Record Precipitation

Meteorologists predict a dramatic weather shift for the 2026-2027 winter due to the El Nino phenomenon, bringing intense storms and above-average precipitation to the Middle East.

Leading global meteorological models indicate that upcoming autumn and winter months will feature heavy rainfall and disrupted air currents. In response, the Israel Meteorological Service released its official storm naming list, compiled in cooperation with Greece and Cyprus.

The 25-name list features eight Israeli selections, beginning with 'Bar' as the second system of the season, followed by 'Eitan' and 'Hadar'. For the first time, the list includes diverse names representing the broader population, such as 'Nadia' and 'Wassim', alongside traditional selections.
