Gadi Eisenkot Outlines Coalition Strategy After Meeting With Yair Lapid
Yashar party leader Gadi Eisenkot outlined his coalition plans on Saturday following talks with Opposition Leader Yair Lapid, vowing to establish a state commission of inquiry and advance universal service.

Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the Yashar party, outlined his post-election political strategy on Saturday evening following a meeting with Opposition Leader Yair Lapid. Eisenkot stated that he intends to immediately leverage a clear parliamentary majority to challenge Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his governing bloc.
Detailing his platform, Eisenkot emphasized that his primary objectives include establishing a state commission of inquiry, advancing mandatory service across all sectors to strengthen the IDF, canceling the judicial overhaul legislation, and ensuring appropriate recognition and compensation for active service members. He reiterated that Israel's parliament holds the ultimate authority in granting confidence to a government.
To build a broad Zionist and state-oriented coalition, Eisenkot set forth four core principles for potential partners: recognition of Israel as a Jewish, democratic, liberal, and egalitarian state; commitment to the Declaration of Independence; mandatory military, national, or civic service for all citizens; and the recognition of Hamas as a terrorist organization alongside the necessity of dismantling its military and governing capabilities in the Gaza Strip.
Addressing regional security amid ongoing tensions with Iran, Eisenkot stated that until a new government is sworn in, he will support military actions only in response to direct and immediate threats that cannot be delayed. Both Eisenkot and Lapid confirmed that their recent meeting focused on election results and coordinated efforts to respect the will of the voters while avoiding another prolonged political crisis.
