After six years of development, Dyson is launching a first-of-its-kind toothbrush that combines a macro camera and artificial intelligence, which identifies gaps between teeth and sprays a focused jet of water for thorough cleaning.
Technology giant Dyson is storming into the oral care field with the unveiling of the Dyson CameraJet™ in Paris: an innovative toothbrush, the first of its kind, that combines a macro camera and artificial intelligence (AI) technology. The product, developed over six years by hundreds of engineers, is designed to solve one of the most common problems in oral hygiene: the widespread avoidance of using dental floss and missing the gaps between teeth, where bacterial plaque accumulates.
The new device is equipped with a 100,000-pixel resolution macro camera that scans 28 images per second. Using an advanced machine learning algorithm, the brush identifies gaps between teeth within hundredths of a second and sprays a focused conical jet of mouthwash into them. The unique mechanism breaks down plaque very effectively, while maintaining maximum protection for gum tissue and tooth enamel.
Alongside the spraying mechanism, the device incorporates variable sonic oscillation that prevents the brush bristles from getting stuck against the tooth and achieves significantly higher plaque removal in hard-to-reach areas. The system includes a unique tank that allows for continuous spraying at any brushing angle, a docking station that fills the tank in just three seconds, and connectivity to the MyDyson app, which provides a live view from inside the mouth and gives real-time personal feedback to improve brushing technique.
As a reminder, Dyson continues to push the boundaries of engineering and recently also unveiled the PencilWash™, the company's thinnest and lightest device for wet cleaning. The new development seeks to replace the traditional broom and offer an ultra-compact solution for thorough cleaning of liquids and stains, all in a revolutionary design that does not compromise on the brand's well-known performance power.
