Drama at dawn: illegal residents attempt escape and strike police officer

Four illegal residents from Judea and Samaria without stay permits and an Israeli driver from Lod were arrested at dawn on suspicion of involvement in a series of break-ins at apartments and warehouses throughout Gush Dan. During the operation, their vehicle hit a police car and an officer's legs, and the officers fired at the vehicle's tires after perceiving a life-threatening danger. There were no casualties in the incident.

According to the police, detectives and officers from the Glilot station noticed a Savana-type vehicle during a covert operation in the Sharon area, which its passengers were suspected of intending to use to commit a break-in. When they reached a police checkpoint and were ordered to stop, they disobeyed the instructions, drove in reverse, and struck a patrol car and an officer.

The officers fired at the vehicle's tires, arrested the suspects, and transferred them for questioning at the Glilot station. During a search of the vehicle, numerous specialized burglary tools were seized, which are suspected to have been used in the break-ins, along with property believed to be stolen. The police stated that the suspects will be brought to the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court for a hearing to extend their detention.
