Final: The dismissal of the MAHAR union chair has been approved
Histadrut Chairman Arnon Bar-David had been in a long-standing conflict with MAHAR union chair Alexandra Krushinski and decided to remove her from her position.
The chair of the MAHAR union, Alexandra Krushinski, has been definitively removed from her position. The Regional Labor Court in Tel Aviv ordered today (Sunday) the dismissal of the proceedings to prevent her removal filed by Krushinski and canceled the temporary injunction that had delayed the entry into force of the decision by Histadrut Chairman Arnon Bar-David, which had been approved by the Histadrut's Council of Representatives regarding the termination of her tenure. In doing so, the court accepted the Histadrut's position, ruling that this matter falls under the jurisdiction of the Histadrut's judicial authority. Following this ruling, the proceedings in court were dismissed, and the temporary suspension of Krushinski's removal from her position was canceled.
Bar-David had been in a long-standing conflict with MAHAR union chair Krushinski and decided to remove her from her position last month after she had served for years in a senior role at the Histadrut. According to him, she was derelict in her duties, barely reached agreements with companies in the field, and failed in her role, a claim that Krushinski denied entirely.
After a hearing in which Krushinski and her representatives presented their arguments, the Coordination and Execution Committee decided by a majority of 22 supporters and no opponents to recommend the termination of her tenure. On August 2, the Histadrut's Council of Representatives approved the decision by a majority vote.
The Histadrut and Histadrut Chairman Arnon Bar-David were represented in the proceedings by attorneys Sigal Peil and Zohar Gips. The Histadrut's legal advisor, attorney Yechiel Shamir, accompanied the process before the organization's institutions. Alexandra Krushinski was represented by attorney Ilan Bombach and attorney Shirin Mordian.
Following the court's decision and the cancellation of the temporary injunction, and in accordance with the decision approved as part of the removal process, the Histadrut appointed Alon Sharaf as chair of the interim committee to manage the MAHAR union. In a statement released by the Histadrut, it was stated that:
"Sharaf brings with him extensive managerial experience in the public service. From 2019 until recently, Sharaf served as the director of the Human Resources Division at the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality and was responsible for the municipality's human capital system, which numbers about 12,000 employees. Sharaf holds a master's degree in public policy with honors from Tel Aviv University and a bachelor's degree in social sciences with honors from the Open University."
Histadrut Chairman Arnon Bar-David addressed the ruling and said:
"Our faces are turned forward. To the members of the MAHAR union, I want to say: you are the heart of the union, and our responsibility is to ensure that you have a strong, attentive, and influential professional home that fights for you and gives you the representation you deserve. Together we will build the MAHAR of tomorrow, in cooperation with all the Histadrut's institutions."
