Second wave of layoffs at PenTera: 60 employees let go
Cybersecurity firm PenTera announced a new round of layoffs affecting 60 employees. This follows a previous reduction of 40 staff members in April, bringing the total headcount reduction to 20%.

The cybersecurity company PenTera announced to its employees on Monday that it is carrying out another round of layoffs affecting about 60 people, joining the 40 employees already laid off last April, as learned by Calcalist. Together, this accounts for about 20% of the company's 470 employees. About 30 of those laid off in the current round are from Israel, in addition to 20 employees laid off from Israel in the previous round.
The reduction will be across the board, affecting all departments including the R&D team. At the same time, the company will continue to recruit employees with relevant experience in the AI field. In March 2025, PenTera raised about $60 million in a Series D round, bringing its total capital raised to approximately $250 million. In addition, the company crossed the $100 million threshold in annual revenue and carried out two strategic acquisitions: DevOcean and EVA Information Security. PenTera recently opened offices in Colorado and Madrid, in addition to its existing locations in the UAE, Singapore, Germany, Denver, and Boston.
The decision regarding the layoffs stems from a shift in the company's priorities in recent months against the backdrop of market changes. Over the past year, the company has focused on launching and developing AI-based solutions for cybersecurity validation. Recently, the company added AI capabilities to its platform for testing web applications that simulate a human attacker and expanded its resilience testing capabilities for various types of ransomware. Last week, PenTera announced it had signed a cooperation and technological integration agreement with the cybersecurity giant Recorded Future.
The company stated:
"PenTera is preparing for the rapid changes occurring in the market against the backdrop of the dramatic growth in artificial intelligence capabilities. Accordingly, we are completing the transformation of the company's platform to make it AI Native in order to provide our customers with solutions adapted to AI challenges, while embedding artificial intelligence in all our work processes. In order to meet these goals and continue to grow, we are unfortunately forced to part ways with employees who have contributed greatly to the company."
