Raid at a Nazareth restaurant: Pistol found in a sock, illegal worker arrested
Police and Border Police forces raided a restaurant in Nazareth following intelligence reports. The owner and an employee were arrested, with police seeking to extend their detention. Over 530 weapons have been seized in the Northern District since the start of the year.
A routine police operation turned into an unusual discovery on Tuesday: a concealed pistol and an illegal worker were located at a restaurant in Nazareth during a raid by Northern District police and Border Police (Magav) forces.
Officers arrived at the scene after receiving intelligence regarding illegal weapons at the business, which is owned by a 33-year-old local resident. During the inspection, it was discovered that one of the employees was a 33-year-old resident of the territories without a valid stay permit.
Following the arrest of the worker, forces conducted a thorough search of the premises. Inside a small room, they discovered a desert-colored Glock pistol concealed inside a sock.
The business owner and the employee were taken in for questioning, and police are expected to request an extension of their detention at the Magistrate's Court in Nof HaGalil-Nazareth this morning.
Police emphasized that this activity is part of an ongoing effort to combat illegal weapons. "We will continue to act with determination and zero tolerance against those who generate crime," the statement read. Authorities noted that since the beginning of the year, over 530 weapons have been seized in the Northern District, alongside the thwarting of armed cells.
