Strong winds fuel fires in the Coastal District and Lachish
A brush fire spread rapidly near Zalafa, prompting the deployment of four aircraft to protect nearby homes. In Lachish, firefighters contained a blaze that threatened a local factory. No casualties were reported.

Two fires broke out today, Sunday, in open areas near Zalafa and the community of Lachish. No casualties were reported.
A brush fire near Zalafa spread rapidly due to strong winds and extreme weather conditions. Firefighting crews from the Hadera and Afula stations are working to contain the fire's advance toward the village houses.
The report of the fire reached the Coastal District command center at 14:09. Simultaneously with the deployment of ground forces, the aerial firefighting system was activated and later reinforced with four aircraft performing water drops on the fire front. At this stage, the fire has not yet been contained.
At the same time, firefighters from the Southern District gained control of a brush fire that had spread near the community of Lachish. During the operation, crews protected a nearby factory and prevented damage to the structure. Firefighting teams are continuing with final extinguishing operations and area sweeps.
