Israelis Account for Nearly a Quarter of All Tourists in Cyprus This August
Israelis made up 23.3% of tourists in Cyprus this August, marking a 28% increase from the previous year despite an overall drop in international visitors.
According to the Cyprus Statistical Service, Israelis accounted for 23.3% of all tourists who visited Cyprus this past August during peak season. Out of 581,880 total visitors that month, 135,628 were from Israel, making them the second-largest group behind the United Kingdom at 177,603.
By comparison, 105,597 Israeli tourists visited Cyprus in August 2025, representing an increase of about 28% in just one year. This growth occurred while overall tourism to Cyprus dropped by approximately 3.3%, alongside declines from other nations such as a 17.5% drop in Dutch visitors and a nearly 50% plunge from France.
The sharp surge in these figures comes against the backdrop of rising flight prices and overall aviation instability amid the ongoing security situation. Flights to Cyprus are traditionally more affordable than other destinations and offer a more accessible route back to Israel in the event of an unexpected escalation.
Flight options from Israel remain relatively diverse, with departures from both Ben-Gurion Airport and Haifa arriving in Larnaca and the popular resort town of Paphos. Israelis also vacation in Ayia Napa, Limassol, and Larnaca, while travelers seeking nature and landscapes visit the Troodos Mountains.
