Knives, arrests – and a surprising weapon: The wedding that spiraled out of control

A violent and uncontrollable brawl broke out last Friday at a banquet hall in Ohio, USA, turning a happy wedding into a battlefield. The incident began when a group of brothers stormed the reception and attacked one of the guests, leading to a mass riot between two rival families with a history of conflict.

According to testimonies received by the police, one of the attackers, Raad Mahmoud Suleiman, armed himself with a butter knife he found on the table and began attacking other guests. The music in the hall was replaced by screams of panic, and dozens of revelers fled in terror from the hall toward the parking lot, where they encountered police officers who had arrived at the scene.

Captain Jerry Vogel of the Westlake Police Department noted that upon their arrival, officers encountered about 40 panicked and bloodied people. The investigation revealed that it was a brawl between two rival families, known for their hostility toward each other, who had gathered together at the event. Suleiman, 46, was arrested and charged with assault, inducing panic, and tampering with evidence, after allegedly discarding the knife before the police arrived.

Two other men, Ali Wahdan, 47, and Abdallah Wahdan, 48, were also arrested for their involvement in the brawl. Ali Wahdan was charged with violating a court order protecting family members who were attending the wedding, while Abdallah Wahdan was charged with making serious threats against several guests. Captain Vogel warned against ruining happy occasions:

"Don't ruin someone else's wedding. Now, these people will always remember the wedding as an event with a mass brawl."
