Leadership Change at Apple Israel: New Head of R&D Appointed

Significant changes have been announced at Apple Israel: Roni Friedman, head of the company's research and development center in Israel, has been promoted to a senior position at Apple Global. He will lead a new group focused on designing advanced chips. His role as head of the R&D center in Israel will be filled by Tal Inbar, who joined Apple following the acquisition of the Israeli firm Anobit.
For over nine years, Roni Friedman led Apple's development center in Israel and oversaw its significant expansion. Under his management, the center's teams developed six generations of Apple Silicon chips for Mac computers, contributed to the company's first dedicated chip for data centers, and advanced storage solutions integrated across a wide range of Apple products.
Friedman is now moving to a new role at Apple Global, where he will head the CHIP AI division. This initiative is designed to integrate artificial intelligence tools into chip development workflows to enhance efficiency and accelerate design cycles.
Management of the development center in Israel will be taken over by Tal Inbar, who will concurrently continue to lead Apple's SoC and storage engineering teams in Israel. Inbar joined the company after the Anobit acquisition and has since held several key positions in chip development. Over the years, he has contributed to the development of various storage controllers, SoC chips for the Apple Watch, and the Pro, Max, and Ultra versions of the M-series chips. Recently, he also led the development of Apple Silicon chips intended for the company's data centers.
