It's happening again: Global outage in ChatGPT
Many users reported a malfunction in the chatbot that affects a wide range of actions, such as opening new tasks, continuing tasks that are already running, and uploading documents. OpenAI has not yet announced when the fix for the malfunction is expected.
It is not just you: The popular chatbot ChatGPT by OpenAI is experiencing widespread technical malfunctions today, Monday, affecting users worldwide. The artificial intelligence company has not yet stated when the service is expected to be fully restored, and the Downdetector website confirms that the issue remains unresolved.
According to reports, the malfunction began around 18:00 (Israel time), causing significant slowness and multiple errors, particularly for premium users. Many reported an inability to perform new tasks or continue existing ones. Others noted that the chat fails to respond to questions or follow-up messages, and there are reports of significant delays in document uploads.
On Downdetector, more than 2,000 reports of server failures were recorded. The issue appears to be global, with users from the USA, Mexico, Greece, the UK, Japan, India, and Australia reporting problems.
OpenAI stated that the malfunction has been identified and that the company is working to minimize the damage. However, the company has not yet provided an exact timeline for a resolution.
This current outage comes just four days after a similar incident. According to StatusGator, 61 malfunctions have been recorded in ChatGPT over the last 90 days, with a median duration of two hours and 40 minutes. Since January 2025, 349 malfunctions have been recorded across OpenAI services, averaging more than one incident every two days across all of the company's products.
