It is not lost: there is a way to see what was sent to you on WhatsApp — and deleted
Instead of guessing what was written or risking dubious applications: changing just one setting on your device will record every message for you.

We are all familiar with that momentary frustration: a notification sound makes the phone jump, you open WhatsApp with excitement, and all that awaits you on the screen is the annoying text "This message was deleted". The feeling of missing out and helplessness in the face of information that disappeared at exactly the wrong moment causes many to search for dangerous solutions across the web.
A viral tutorial video published by technology content creator Lea S. (on the Instagram page lea_editor_video, which has over 44 thousand followers), broke the internet with more than 1.1 million views and 11 thousand shares.
In the video, she addresses the viewers directly and presents the solution: "Do you know that feeling when someone sends you a message on WhatsApp and then after a second they delete it and you didn't manage to see what they wrote? So let's show you how you can find out what they wrote".
The hidden mechanism that is in your hands
Instead of being tempted to download third-party applications that could expose your private information, the solution is already built deep into the operating system of Android devices. The video demonstrates exactly how the notification log feature records every message that enters the device in the fraction of a second it lands, even before the sender has time to regret it and press delete.
After activating the dedicated switch, Lea demonstrates in real-time how a message is sent and immediately deleted in the chat. She returns to the internal screen and shows with enthusiasm: "And here, here is the message I deleted, as you can see, what I wrote... crazy!". The method records the exact text content and allows you to view it easily whenever you want.
Step-by-step instructions
-
Entering settings: open the main settings menu on your Android device.
-
Moving to notifications: click on the "Notifications" option from the main list.
-
Advanced settings: scroll down and click on "Advanced settings".
-
Entering history: locate the "Notification history" option and enter it.
-
Activating the switch: click on the activation button. From now on, every message that is deleted in WhatsApp will be saved and appear in this log.
Important caveat for iPhone users
It is important to emphasize: the built-in notification log feature exists only on Android devices and is not supported on iPhone (iOS) devices, so Apple users will not be able to use this method.
In addition, the setting does not work retroactively on messages that were deleted in the past, but only starts recording from the moment you turned on the switch - therefore it is recommended to turn it on now so as not to miss future texts.
