Nightmare on Smartwings flight to Israel: 189 passengers returned to Prague due to engine failure
A night flight from Prague to Tel Aviv was forced to turn back just half an hour after takeoff. Due to a suspected engine malfunction, the plane made an emergency landing while ground emergency teams were placed on high alert.
A major incident occurred during a flight operated by the Czech airline Smartwings. The flight, which departed from Prague towards Tel Aviv, was forced to turn back due to a malfunction in one of the plane's engines.
About 30 minutes after takeoff, a loud noise was heard on board, prompting the flight crew to investigate and identify an engine fault. There were 189 passengers on board. Before landing back in Prague, the plane circled in the air for approximately an hour, while rescue and emergency forces were prepared on the runway. At around 02:00, the plane landed safely, and all passengers disembarked normally. No injuries were reported.
Immediately upon landing, the airline began preparations for an alternative flight. After about five hours of waiting, the passengers departed for Israel on a replacement aircraft.
As a reminder, just a few days ago, another drama occurred on a flight to Israel. A Wizz Air flight from Rome to Israel turned into a nightmare for approximately 300 passengers after a traveler stood up from their seat and interrupted the takeoff at the last moment.
