IDF Central Command Chief Warns Against Division in West Bank Security Ranks
IDF Central Command chief Maj. Gen. Avi Bluth warned against efforts to divide security forces in the West Bank, emphasizing inter-agency cooperation amid governance debates.
IDF Central Command chief Maj. Gen. Avi Bluth addressed the security and governance challenges in the West Bank during a New Year conference with settlement leaders, warning against attempts to create divisions within the security establishment.
"There are many critics trying to drive a wedge between the various organizations, between the civilian sphere and the security forces, and among the security forces themselves," Bluth stated. He emphasized that a strong inter-organizational partnership between the IDF, Shin Bet, Israel Police, and Border Police is crucial for counterterrorism and law enforcement.
Bluth's remarks come as Defense Minister Israel Katz advances a controversial initiative to transfer civil enforcement powers in the West Bank to the police, a move facing resistance from police leadership and senior military officials. Bluth stressed that robust cooperation ensures operational effectiveness and maintains public order.
