Berko, meet: the Haredim are also part of this people

Look at the level of low discourse, alienation, and arrogance we have reached in the studios: Eyal Berkovic sits opposite Michael Shemesh and dares to ask him on live broadcast with the utmost naturalness a question that hides all the arrogance in the world:

"What do the Haredim contribute to us that we should take them into the coalition?"

In response, Shemesh told Berko that it was a "somewhat rude and disgusting" question. Michael, allow me to disagree with you: Berko did not ask a rude and disgusting question. Berko is simply a "captured child" and a product of media incitement who understands nothing about his life.

I want to ask you back, tell me Berko: what have you contributed to the country? What have soccer players contributed to the country besides millions to their bank accounts? When did you bring a World Cup, a Euro, or an international cup here? A bird whispered to me that when you played soccer and they put you on the bench, you wanted your team to lose, because the main thing is your ego. Suddenly you? Berko? The knight of utility.

But honestly? There is something much more fundamental here that is being missed: according to Berko's method, and he is not the only one, the Haredim should feel like guests here. They need to justify their existence and pass entrance exams so that we can decide if they are even worthy of being part of this people, if they are even worthy of being taken into the coalition. These parasites, the draft dodgers, these penguins.

Berko is not familiar with the concept of mutual responsibility: "all Jews are responsible for one another, dependent on one another." Berko fails to understand how a public that studies and prays benefits him. Protects him. Gives him something he does not have. And what about all the charity organizations that everyone knows? They are not even half a percent of the giving of this public. Yad Sarah. Yedidim. Chabad houses all over the world. The "Matnat Chaim" (Gift of Life) project of the late Rabbi Haber, where Haredim donate their organs, a kidney, to save Jews without asking what benefit they provide. This is mutual responsibility, Berko, get to know it.

This is giving that does not depend on ratings, or money, or how many claps you get at the end of a broadcast. Before you sit in your air-conditioned studio and ask what an entire public contributes to the country, look in the mirror, lower your nose a bit, and learn what mutual responsibility and love of Israel are. And get out of the movie that the Haredi public needs to do something to justify its existence. This is the state of the Jews. It is a home for Jews. And it seems to me that the Haredim meet this definition at least as much as you do.
