Ben Gurion Airport Advances 310 Million Shekel Terminal Expansion Project
Ben Gurion Airport is advancing a 310 million shekel infrastructure project to expand Terminal 3, featuring the new Tel Aviv Gate, additional border checkpoints, and enhanced passenger facilities.

Ben Gurion International Airport is undergoing a massive 310 million shekel infrastructure overhaul aimed at eliminating bottlenecks and streamlining passenger traffic for both arrivals and departures. A major milestone was recently reached with the pouring of the first concrete floor for the new "Tel Aviv Gate" structure.
Located in the western part of Terminal 3, the 2,000-square-meter facility is designed specifically for passengers whose planes park at remote stands rather than terminal jet bridges. Travelers arriving by bus will enter a modern, air-conditioned complex featuring expedited passport control booths that lead directly to the baggage claim area, bypassing lengthy corridors.
Being constructed by Oron Tshahirot VeBniya, the multi-phase project adds 7,000 square meters across four levels. For departing passengers, the expansion introduces seven new security screening stations and 15 additional border control checkpoints to ease peak-season congestion. The terminal will also feature new dining options and roughly 450 additional seating spaces.
Executing complex engineering works within a 24/7 active airport requires rigorous logistical coordination with security forces, airlines, and ground handlers. Oron CEO Shaul Tzuk noted that maintaining seamless flight operations during construction remains a primary challenge, especially amid heavy holiday travel periods.
Scheduled for completion within 30 months, this initiative precedes a larger development phase planned for 2027. The upcoming phase will feature the eastern expansion of Terminal 3 and the construction of Concourse A, the airport's fifth pier, significantly increasing parking gate capacity and modernizing the nation's primary gateway.
