Ben Caspit taunts Yinon Magal and Channel 14: "Let's see if you survive"
Ben Caspit spoke out against the dramatic statement by Yair Golan, chairman of "The Democrats," regarding the closure of Channel 14, but proposed another harsh measure that would make it difficult for the channel to survive in the media market.
Yair Golan, chairman of "The Democrats" party, recently sparked a media and public uproar after announcing his decision not to reserve a spot for Einav Zangauker in his party. Now, his name is back in the headlines, this time following journalist Ben Caspit's reaction to Golan's statement regarding the closure of Channel 14.
Recall that in an interview on the television program "Assenheim," hosted by Omri Assenheim on Channel 13, Golan said that Channel 14 is a propaganda channel and not a media outlet, and clarified that if it does not change its nature and become a media channel, he will work to bring about its closure. At the same time, Golan clarified another point: "Channel 12, which I also have criticism of, is a media channel. It operates as a media channel. Channel 14 operates as a propaganda channel, and the big difference is between absolute disloyalty to the truth and... you can, as they say, argue about it, but it is still connected to reality."
Ben Caspit addressed that statement on the program he co-hosts with Yinon Magal on 103FM radio, and clarified: "I am against closing 'Channel 14', I am against closing channels." Along with this, Caspit noted that he does believe that steps should be promoted to prevent the channel from enjoying benefits that other channels do not receive from the state. "I think it will be necessary to stop all the benefits, return you to all the obligations of a broadcast channel, and then we'll see if you survive."
