Ben Caspit attacked the Likud MK: "You started stuttering"

The appointees announced by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ahead of the Likud primaries also arrived at the 103FM studio, where a confrontation developed between MK Sasson Guetta and Ben Caspit regarding the decision - and mainly regarding the appointment of high-tech entrepreneur Oren Dobronsky, who comes from Palo Alto in the USA.

In a conversation with Ben Caspit and Yinon Magal on 103FM radio, Guetta addressed the decision to appoint candidates to the Likud list, while the incumbent MKs are preparing for a battle for their places in the primaries. He clarified that in the past he voted against the appointments, but alongside this, he expressed confidence in Benjamin Netanyahu's judgment.

"About Gideon we knew, I voted against the appointments in Likud, not that I thought, heaven forbid, that they were not good. I think that Likud is a very good party, Mizrahim or not Mizrahim, in Likud everyone gets opportunities, this is a primaries party, from the districts they also arrive and this is a special thing that the party knows how to refresh itself. I don't know this businessman but if the Prime Minister chose him then there is a reason."

"I don't know the person, I don't know who this is"

Guetta, who is preparing for the primaries himself, said that he stayed in the center of the country due to the difficulty of traveling and continued to explain why he accepts Benjamin Netanyahu's decision regarding Dobronsky, even though he does not know him.

"I have primaries and I stayed to sleep in the center, travel is hard for me. I am a Mizrahi, a Tripolitan from the border and I get the opportunity here, I was an MK on behalf of Likud. The Prime Minister is the smartest person there is, I don't know the person (Dobronsky), I don't know who this is. You look at it that maybe the Prime Minister took him, he can help with initiatives, I believe that every appointment brings a certain topic, one social, one more business-oriented. Don't worry, you will also have Sasson Guetta on the list."

Later, Guetta explained why, in his opinion, Likud members should choose him in the primaries, and emphasized his connection to agriculture and the North. "I am the only representative who comes from the working settlement, the only representative who spoke agriculture, did agriculture, defended agriculture, I come from the North, I am an MK who was evacuated, I worked for the North to bring budgets and I knew how to touch the right budgets. I think that within Likud there is a need for a representative of farmers."

Ben Caspit: "That is not how a person who has a backbone of his own sounds"

The discussion heated up when Ben Caspit attacked Guetta's response to the appointments and claimed that his words do not reflect an independent position. "I read you the list of appointees, Ashkenazim, the resume of Oren Dobronsky and you started stuttering and saying 'the Prime Minister is a smart person'. That is not how a person who has a backbone of his own sounds," said Caspit.

Guetta rejected the things and mentioned that in the vote itself he opposed the appointments: "I went against all the ministers and voted. I thought it was not right. I voted against openly. Ben, it is not right to say that I don't have a backbone. In this case, you brought up a person who thought about the good of Likud."

Caspit continued and pressed the MK: "This is the Likud appointment. What does it symbolize? What does it mean? What does it signal? What should a Likud voter in the periphery think? That the first appointment is from Palo Alto."

Guetta chose to respond with humor: "It is better for me that there is no appointment from the periphery so they will be obligated to have me on the list." Towards the end of the exchange, Yinon Magal joined and jabbed at Caspit: "Ben, put your worries aside. People are not stupid and not baboons, they know who they want to choose."
