12-Year-Old Boy Resuscitated at Ayalon Mall After Defibrillator Use
A 12-year-old boy who collapsed and lost consciousness at the Ayalon Mall was saved by a rapid MDA response and immediate defibrillator use.

A dramatic incident occurred at the Ayalon Mall when a 12-year-old boy collapsed and lost consciousness inside one of the stores. The emergency report was received at 17:23 by the MDA 101 emergency hotline in the Dan region, prompting medics and paramedics to rush to the scene.
MDA responder and emergency medical technician Meir Azulay arrived within two minutes, finding the boy unconscious, pulseless, and not breathing. He immediately initiated resuscitation efforts and used his defibrillator to deliver two shocks.
Following the shocks, the boy's heartbeat returned, and he gradually regained consciousness. An MDA intensive care ambulance team subsequently arrived, continued medical treatment, and evacuated him to Schneider Children's Medical Center for further care.
Meir Azulay recounted: "I arrived at the store and saw a 12-year-old boy lying unconscious, without breathing or a pulse. I immediately started life-saving treatment and using my defibrillator, I gave him two shocks. Afterward, his heartbeat returned and he gradually regained consciousness. The MDA intensive care team evacuated him to the hospital."
MDA paramedic Shai Pinhas noted that the boy was already conscious upon the arrival of the intensive care unit. He added that the team provided ongoing medical care, administered medications, and transported him to Schneider hospital in stable condition while conscious.
MDA concluded that the prompt intervention by their responder, particularly the immediate use of the defibrillator, was a decisive factor in saving the child's life.
