Avigdor Lieberman changes his tune: Yair Golan gets a hug

After a firm and persistent line maintained against Yair Golan, Avigdor Lieberman has chosen to change direction, highlighting the military past of the chairman of The Democrats in a positive light.

"I know Yair Golan well," said Lieberman. "He was my Deputy Chief of Staff. He was the most combat-oriented commander of the Judea and Samaria Division. He always flanked me from the right in everything regarding attacking, bombing, and erasing."

The Yisrael Beiteinu chairman even revealed behind-the-scenes details regarding attempts to appoint Golan to the position of Chief of Staff in the past. "It is no coincidence that Benjamin Netanyahu almost 'killed himself' for him for the position of Chief of Staff," noted Lieberman. "I remember a confrontation between Bibi and Bogie Ya'alon, when Netanyahu wanted to appoint Golan as Chief of Staff."

The current change in tone comes after a series of sharp criticisms that Lieberman leveled at Golan during the current election campaign. As recalled, Lieberman attacked Golan over interviews in which he spoke about his positions on the evacuation of settlements and outposts and the promotion of a Palestinian state, claiming these positions served the Likud campaign. On those occasions, Lieberman claimed that Golan should "shut up," adding: "His problem is that he talks himself, literally chatters himself to death. Simply a person who has no coordination between his head and his mouth. It's all empty talk."
