Omer Niron is on his way to Maccabi Haifa: as first reported by ynet, an agreement has been reached between the clubs and the deal is finalized. The goalkeeper, who played last season for Maccabi Netanya, will join the Greens on a loan contract for the upcoming season, with Haifa holding a purchase option of 1.4 million shekels at its conclusion.
As previously noted, Niron underwent surgery in London a few months ago and is currently in the final stages of his rehabilitation. He is expected to return to full training within the next month and join Barak Bakhar's squad. The goalkeeper is initially intended to serve as backup to Giorgi Yermakov, or to take the starting spot if the Ukrainian is sold during the transfer window.
Niron's arrival at the Carmel is expected to trigger a wave of changes in the goalkeeper hierarchy across the Premier League: Nadav Zamir may leave Hapoel Jerusalem to become the senior goalkeeper for the Diamonds, while Niv Antman would remain as the second-choice keeper. Roy Sasson, who finished his contract at Hapoel Kfar Shalem in the National League, may take Zamir's place in Jerusalem.
