With 3 weekly flights - starting Wednesday: a new route from Ben Gurion Airport to Bologna
The Greek airline Blue Bird is expanding its flight offerings to additional destinations in Italy. Following Bologna, additional flights to Rome and Naples are expected to be added in the middle of next month. So how much will a ticket cost you, and does it shorten the way to the dream resort town that has become the hot destination of the summer?
Good news for those flying to Italy: the Greek airline Blue Bird Airways announced today, Monday, the launch of a new direct flight route between Tel Aviv and Bologna. The route will begin operating this coming Wednesday, September 2, 2026, with a frequency of 3 weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Ticket prices will start from 128 euros one way. As of now, Blue Bird will be the only airline operating direct flights on this route, without the need for layovers. This comes after the company Ryanair previously operated a similar route.
The new route joins the company's existing operations in Italy, which include flights to Bergamo and Milan. In addition, starting September 17, the company is expected to further expand its flight schedule and launch direct routes from Tel Aviv to Rome and Naples as well.
"The launch of the route to Bologna is significant news for Israeli passengers, especially at a time when the demand for direct flights to Italy continues to be high," the company stated. "Bologna is not only a destination in itself, but also an excellent gateway for trips in northern Italy. Alongside Bergamo and Milan, starting September 17, Rome and Naples will also be added, so we are creating a wide network of direct destinations ahead of the autumn and winter season at accessible prices."
Bologna, the capital of the Emilia-Romagna region, is considered one of the most prominent culinary and cultural centers in Italy and serves as a convenient gateway for trips throughout the north of the country, among others to Tuscany, Florence, the Dolomites mountain range, and of course to Portofino — which became a sought-after destination against the backdrop of the highly publicized wedding of singer Omer Adam.
