Instead of a First Birthday: Channel 14 Presenter Honors Memory of His Baby Daughter
Channel 14 presenter Tamir Shnaid shared a moving tribute to his daughter Emmanuel, who would have celebrated her first birthday today. The baby passed away eight months ago from sudden infant death syndrome.
Channel 14 correspondent and presenter Tamir Shnaid published a moving and heartbreaking story today, Tuesday, on his Instagram account, in which he honored the memory of his baby daughter Emmanuel (of blessed memory), who was supposed to celebrate her first birthday.
Shnaid, who lost his eldest daughter about eight months ago due to sudden infant death syndrome, shared with his followers the feelings of deep pain and longing that have accompanied him and his wife Shira since the heavy tragedy that befell their family.
In his post, Shnaid wrote that instead of blowing out the first candle on a birthday cake, they stand heartbroken before the memory of their eldest daughter, who will forever remain only four months old:
"Today our Emmanuel was supposed to celebrate her first birthday. Instead of blowing out the first candle on a cake, we stand before her memory. And it breaks the heart. She will forever remain our eldest daughter of four months. Pain that does not pass. Longing that does not weaken. A void that no one can fill."
Alongside the pain and longing that do not weaken, the presenter emphasized his gratitude to the Almighty for the strength He gives them every day anew to continue living:
"And in all this, we thank the Almighty for what there is. For the strength He gives us every day anew to continue living, to believe in life, and to carry what sometimes seems impossible. Our Emmanuel, we love you and miss you."
As recalled, the tragic disaster occurred in the month of Kislev, when Emmanuel passed away suddenly. In the chilling eulogy that Shnaid wrote after the loss, he described the immense parental love they discovered and the promise to choose life and build a happy and strong family based on the light and purity their daughter left behind. Shnaid holds a bachelor's degree in political science and communications, previously worked in the Knesset spokesperson's office, and is currently a correspondent and program presenter on Channel 14.
After the loss, he was interviewed on the channel and said: "The world collapses on you, but it was important for me to come here and tell all the people of Israel that we chose life." He referred to the symbolism of the loss occurring near the holiday of Hanukkah and noted: "Every person whose Hanukkiah is lit – let them choose life. No matter how much they try to extinguish our Hanukkiah, we are here to stay."
