A day after the shiva: Protest in front of the home of the successor of the late Rabbi Farber
According to the protesters, Hershy Landau is expected to head the "Maalot Tzur" organization following the passing of its founder, Yaakov Farber (of blessed memory). The police deployed large forces and secured Landau's home, after it was agreed with the protest organizers that the demonstrators would not approach the site.
A day after the end of the seven-day mourning period (shiva) for the founder of the "Maalot Tzur" organization, Yaakov Farber (of blessed memory), dozens of extremists arrived today to protest near the home of Hershy Landau in the settlement of Komemiyut.
According to the protesters, Landau, who works at the "Maalot Tzur" organization, is expected to head the organization following the passing of Farber.
"Maalot Tzur," which was established by Yaakov Farber (of blessed memory), is considered one of the pioneering bodies in the field of integrating ultra-Orthodox Jews into the IDF, and has recruited hundreds of ultra-Orthodox individuals into specialized service tracks over the years.
Ahead of the demonstration, the organizers distributed pashkvils (posters) calling on the public to arrive at the location. The pashkvils also published the phone number of Hershy Landau, presenting him as the person designated to replace Yaakov Farber (of blessed memory) in leading the "Maalot Tzur" organization. In addition, the distributors used a derogatory epithet toward the late Farber, writing about him: "May his name be blotted out, who died this week, with the help of Heaven."
The demonstration is taking place in full coordination with the Israel Police, which has deployed large forces to the scene and is securing Landau's home due to concerns that protesters might attempt to approach the house or disturb the peace. Before the start of the demonstration, police representatives held a meeting with the protest organizer, during which it was agreed that the protesters would not approach Landau's home.
