Aster Sokler Arrives in Israel to Sign with Maccabi Tel Aviv
The 27-year-old Slovenian striker has arrived in the country to finalize his transfer from the Serbian club Radnički, which will receive approximately 1 million euros. He is expected to be the second signing for the cup holder, following Dan Glazer.
Maccabi Tel Aviv is on the verge of a significant squad reinforcement. Following the signing of Dan Glazer, Slovenian striker Aster Sokler landed in Israel today, Saturday, to finalize his transfer from the Serbian club Radnički.
The 27-year-old is set to undergo medical examinations, and barring any last-minute surprises, he will sign his contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv. The club will pay Radnički approximately 1 million euros for the striker, following negotiations that spanned several weeks. Reports from Serbia indicate that Maccabi Tel Aviv beat out several other teams in the race for the player, including Red Star, Partizan Belgrade, Vojvodina, and Malmö.
Sokler scored 16 goals last season for Radnički, helping the team retain its spot in the Serbian top flight. Last month, he also made his debut for the Slovenian national team, appearing as a substitute in a friendly match against Cyprus.
