Loaded weapon and ready magazines: Operation "Iron Net" in the Negev
As part of a large-scale police operation to combat crime in the Negev, district officers in cooperation with Border Police fighters carried out a proactive raid on a residential house in a local council near Arad, resulting in the arrest of a suspect.
Officers of the Southern District, in cooperation with the Southern Border Police fighters and the K-9 unit, carried out several targeted operational activities to locate illegal weapons. In one instance, an M-16 rifle loaded with ammunition and two full magazines were seized in a residential house in the Bedouin local council of Arara, near Arad. All findings were transferred to the Arara station for further investigation.
The activity, carried out based on intelligence, focuses on locating and seizing illegal weapons, preventing shooting incidents, and curbing the escalation of violent conflicts between families in the Bedouin sector.
Also, as part of Operation "Iron Net," a raid was conducted last week on a compound near a construction site in Rahat. A 35-year-old local resident was arrested, and hidden weapons were located, including:

In addition, the following day, with the help of a K-9 unit, a Glock pistol and an explosive block were located under a wooden pallet in the yard. During a search inside the house, boxes were found in a locked bedroom closet containing 25 boxes of 5.56 mm ammunition, seven M16 magazines, and an M16 weapon part. Three suspects, aged 17, 19, and 56, all residents of Rahat, were arrested and brought in for questioning.
