Five Murdered in Three Days Across Arab Communities as Death Toll Reaches 189
Five people have been murdered in Arab communities across Israel over the past three days, bringing the annual death toll to 189 amid a severe escalation in violent crime.

A new wave of violent crime has struck Arab communities in Israel, with five people murdered over the past three days, bringing the total death toll since the beginning of the year to 189.
The latest killing took place in Acre, where a young woman from the West Bank was brutally murdered inside a home. According to medical sources, the suspect—a resident of Nablus—allegedly murdered and dismembered the victim before fleeing the scene. Upon reaching Nablus, the suspect contacted police to report the killing and was subsequently detained by Palestinian authorities. Acquaintances of the victim stated that the suspect was her fiancé, noting that the killing followed a financial dispute and was unrelated to so-called honor killings. Medical teams described the crime scene as horrific, noting that parts of the victim's body were missing, prompting the transfer of the remains to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute. Due to the extreme severity of the violence, forensic experts were unable to determine the murder weapon.
In a separate incident in Reineh, Tareq Bassoul was shot dead in his car in front of his wife, who sustained moderate injuries. The couple was parked near a car wash when assailants approached on foot and opened fire at point-blank range. Acquaintances described Bassoul as a gym owner and decorated athlete. Investigators noted that three individuals took part in the shooting, supported by an accomplice disguised as a delivery rider and another waiting on a dune buggy. The attackers burned their getaway vehicle before fleeing.
Meanwhile, in Arraba, 47-year-old Marouf Kanaan was gunned down on his way to work. Assailants blocked his vehicle and opened fire; Kanaan attempted to flee on foot but was pursued and shot at point-blank range. His brother, Dr. Osama Kanaan, described him as a peaceful contractor and a devoted family man. Additional violent incidents over the 72-hour period claimed the lives of Mohammad Rzayel, who was run over during a brawl in Kfar Qara, and Alaa Mansi Jabali, who was killed in Tayibe by stray gunfire while working as a tiler.
