After a day of searching: A man's body was located on a beach in Ashkelon
Forces searched the area for long hours after receiving a report yesterday about a missing person at Hofit Beach. Today his body was found and it will be transferred for examination at the National Center of Forensic Medicine. Israel Police: "Avoid entering the sea at non-declared beaches."
The body of a 39-year-old man, a foreign worker from Moldova, was located today, Sunday, at Hofit Beach in Ashkelon. Extensive searches began last night following a report to the police regarding a fear that a person had drowned.
Upon receiving the call, officers from the Ashkelon police station, maritime police forces, volunteers, rescue units, and emergency teams launched comprehensive searches at sea and along the coastline to locate the missing person.
After prolonged search operations, the man's body was located in the coastal area. The body will be transferred for further identification procedures and examinations at the National Center of Forensic Medicine. The Israel Police calls on the public of bathers to:
"Obey the instructions of lifeguards and security forces, avoid entering the sea at non-declared beaches, and not enter the water when sea conditions are dangerous."
Chaim Otmazgin, commander of the ZAKA special units, stated:
"Throughout the night hours, volunteers of the ZAKA special units worked in full cooperation with the Israel Police and all emergency forces, conducting searches from the shore and from the sea. Unfortunately, this morning the missing person was located without signs of life."
Rabbi Meir Buskila, commander of ZAKA Ashkelon, added: "Volunteers of the ZAKA Ashkelon team worked throughout the night together with the ZAKA special units and security forces in the search efforts. Unfortunately, this morning the searches ended with the discovery of the deceased. We continue to operate at the scene and assist all parties."
