After the birth of her firstborn, Nitzan Schick admits: "The hardest days I've ever been through"
Two weeks after giving birth to her firstborn, Ori, the 38-year-old reality star reveals the complexity and the challenge she faced: "I felt that my condition was deteriorating and not improving," she wrote alongside footage of herself crying in the hospital, "I don't want to think what would have happened if the ophthalmologist hadn't recommended that I go to the ER right now."
Two and a half weeks after giving birth at age 38 to her firstborn, Ori, star of the fourth season of "Married at First Sight" Nitzan Schick is now revealing the very difficult days, by her account, that she went through after the birth.
"I arrived at the hospital when the infection markers were already high and very dangerous," wrote the reality star in a post she uploaded today (Sunday) to her Instagram account, alongside footage of herself crying - and breastfeeding, in the hospital.
Schick, who is currently at home with little Ori, described in detail what she went through after the birth, when it was clearly not easy for her. "When we returned home from the hospital I didn't really feel well, everything hurt, I was limited in my ability to take care of my baby. I woke up every morning paler than the day before and mainly felt that my condition was deteriorating and not improving. Even though my mother really asked me to go get checked, it took me time to take care of myself because I attributed every pain, bleeding, ailment or fever to the fact that I had given birth just recently and the body had undergone trauma. I just wanted to be at home."
According to Schick, in the end, it was actually the ophthalmologist who checked Ori, looked at me, said I looked anemic and recommended that I go to the ER immediately. "When I arrived there I understood that my hemoglobin had reached 6.9 and that I had developed a severe uterine infection. I was hospitalized immediately to receive blood transfusions and antibiotics and I remained hospitalized for a week while I was without my child whom I had just started to get to know." The reality star added that these were the most challenging days for her. "The pains, the weakness, the distance from home, from the child, the helplessness and the feeling of loss of control created together a traumatic event that I will still need to process. Ori was in the best hands possible (with my mother and grandmother) and came to me for visits at the hospital. Since I returned home we continue to learn each other including breastfeeding and nursing after all these days apart."
"I am sharing all this because it is easy to reach this state after birth, also because there is a little creature that suddenly sucks up all the attention, focus and time and also because it can be confusing (after all, no one is supposed to feel good after birth)... I don't want to think what would have happened if the ophthalmologist hadn't recommended that I go to the ER right now and if we hadn't already been at Ichilov by chance. Most likely I would have given up because who has the strength to go to the ER when you are in so much pain. I am doing well now, recovering at home and learning myself as a new mother. Take care of yourselves, be attentive to your body and ensure a support circle for the period after birth. It is important."
