After two months on the run: Teenager arrested after being filmed attacking Wadad, her grandson, and a dog in the southern Hebron Hills
A 16-year-old was apprehended in a field in the southern region, two months after he was filmed entering a residential compound in Khirbet al-Marajem, pushing Wadad Mahamreh and her grandson, and striking the family's dog several times.
Arrested after two months on the run: A 16-year-old resident of Judea, who was filmed attacking Wadad Mahamreh and her toddler grandson in Khirbet al-Marajem (Masafer Yatta, southern Hebron Hills). In a video circulated on social media, the teenager is seen entering a residential compound, pushing the two, and striking the family's dog several times.
An investigation was opened that same day by the Judea and Samaria District. Two months later, the suspect was arrested in a field in the southern region and transferred to the inter-agency headquarters. According to the police, he will be brought to court for a detention hearing.
"The Israel Police will act with zero tolerance against any manifestation of violence, towards people in general and towards animals in particular. We will act with determination to arrest those involved in these incidents. This is a serious and unacceptable offense," the police stated.
Wadad Mahamreh and her husband, Yousef, previously told ynet that the teenager entered their residential compound and attacked them without provocation, while their daughter-in-law filmed the incident. Both were evacuated for medical treatment suffering from bruises.
"The settler entered our cave and started attacking for no reason," the couple described. "It happens almost daily." They noted that the family's dog was also harmed, as dogs are targeted for barking and alerting the family to intruders. According to Yousef, the feeling of insecurity has become part of their daily tension.
The couple claimed these events are not isolated and have been repeating since October 7. "This is my grandfather's house, my family's. I have nowhere to go. If this wasn't our place, we wouldn't have stayed here even for one day," Wadad added. The family describes their routine as one of constant alertness and fear. Meanwhile, additional reports have been received regarding enforcement activity and notices of intent to demolish structures in the area.
