After 904 days: The family of Haimnot Kasau issues an important statement

The recent wave of high-profile missing persons cases that has shaken the country has perhaps managed to obscure a particularly grim statistic: since the founding of the state to this day, nearly 600 people are defined in Israel as missing, with their location unknown and their fate unresolved. Every year, the Israel Police opens thousands of missing persons files, which tear entire families apart.

One of the most prominent cases that touched the hearts of many is the story of Haimnot Kasau, the little girl from Safed who one day left her home, did not return, and has been missing for no less than 904 days.

Furthermore, recent cases have proven that when the State of Israel wants to, it can reach missing persons. We have seen successes and rapid closures, such as in the case of the boy Yuval Kogan who was found safe and sound, Eldar Dayan who, unfortunately, was located without signs of life, and even Meli and Liel Yaalomi, who were located on the other side of the world, somewhere in Buenos Aires. This exact gap is what is currently tearing Haimnot's family apart.

In a revealing and painful interview with "Maariv", Haimnot's sister, Yeros Kasau, addressed the conduct surrounding the searches:

"When there is a will, we have seen that it is possible to do it. We saw that they found others within two days. When there is no will, nothing is done. Here is Haimnot, 904 days, and they haven't found her."

Yeros added a desperate appeal to the decision-makers: "I want to ask them: what do we need to do so that you have the will to bring her home?"

One of the central and difficult questions that arises now concerns the non-inclusion of the Shin Bet in the search efforts for Haimnot, in complete contrast to the recent events that stirred the country and received the organization's intervention.
