Mauro Icardi published a statement on Monday regarding his ongoing divorce proceedings with Wanda Nara, claiming that a court in Italy rejected the appeal filed after the financial demands within the process were not accepted.
According to the Argentine striker, Nara demanded 250,000 euros per month for herself, 65,000 euros for each of their two daughters, and an additional 100,000 euros per month as part of the divorce settlement.
"On June 1, 2026, the judge rejected these outrageous demands. They were not satisfied with the decision and were determined to continue taking my money, so they filed an appeal," Icardi wrote.
Icardi added that the attempt to change the decision was also unsuccessful. "Today, July 27, 2026, the courts in Italy clarified their position unequivocally: the appeal was declared inadmissible," he stated.
According to him, the decision effectively ends the claims and demands raised during the process, and now only one legal stage remains before the divorce ruling becomes final. "This effectively puts an end to all claims and demands. Only one last step remains before the ruling becomes final," he wrote.
The conflict between Icardi and Nara has become one of the most publicized sagas in the football world in recent years. The two are engaged in a legal battle over the divorce, custody of their daughters, alimony, and division of property. Icardi even claimed in the past that Nara cheated on him 36 times during their marriage, while she accused him of non-payment of alimony and health insurance and of filing claims intended, according to her, to alienate the daughters from her.
As part of the custody battle, Icardi's lawyers claimed that Nara neglected the daughters materially and emotionally, prevented them from having contact with their father, and used them as a bargaining chip. Nara strongly denied these claims and argued that the daughters themselves do not wish to live with their father.
At the end of the statement, Icardi took a jab at those who criticized him for insisting that the proceedings take place in Italy: "It is good to see that the Italian judicial system works. Already in 2024, people called me crazy when I insisted that everything be handled in Italy."
33-year-old Icardi is currently a free agent after his contract with Galatasaray ended. Parallel to the legal battle with Nara, he is looking for the next stop in his career, and according to reports, is on his way to Benfica.
