Rape Case at a Tel Aviv School: Lod Teacher Charged with Sex Offenses Against Student

The State Attorney's Office filed an indictment today, Monday, at the Tel Aviv District Court against Muhammad al-Naqib, a 27-year-old math teacher and resident of Lod, for committing sex offenses against a 12-year-old student. Along with the indictment, a request was submitted to extend his detention until the conclusion of the proceedings.

The indictment was filed by Adv. Lilach Stiebel of the Tel Aviv District Attorney's Office. The court has prohibited the publication of the indictment's details and any information that could lead to the identification of the complainant.

The investigation into al-Naqib began approximately three weeks ago at the Tel Aviv North station (Yarkon District) following a report regarding suspected sex offenses committed by the teacher. An arrest warrant was issued, and he was taken into custody by station officers. During interrogation, he admitted to some of the acts attributed to him, wept, and expressed remorse.

Educational staff held meetings with students at the school, and police are investigating whether there are other victims. Channel 13 News reported that al-Naqib had joined the school following an internship at another institution, where his employment was terminated due to dissatisfaction with his performance.

The school principal issued a message to parents and students following the news:

"The event we experienced arouses many feelings, concern, and questions. I wish to remind you again that we are here for the students and for you. We will continue to be attentive and sensitive to the needs that arise. Understanding that everyone copes differently, the responses provided at the school will be personal, individual, and adapted to the needs of each student. It is important for us to act together with you, with sensitivity, responsibility, and discretion, to provide each student with the right support."
