Adva Cohen in shape: Season-best before the European Championships

The runner from Maccabi Tel Aviv clocked 4:11.25 minutes in the 1,500-meter run at a competition in Belgium, while Darge Chekol and Zamano Moche also impressed. Yotam Tiah stole the show with a new Israeli under-18 record in the 5,000-meter run.

Adva Cohen in shape: Season-best before the European Championships

Runner Adva Cohen continues to show encouraging signs ahead of the European Championships. Cohen set a season-best in the 1,500-meter run yesterday (Saturday) at the World Athletics Bronze Label meet held in Oordegem, Belgium.

Cohen stopped the clock at 4:11.25 minutes, a result close to her personal best of 4:09.94 minutes, set in 2024. For the runner from Maccabi Tel Aviv, this was the final competition before the European Championships, which will open on August 10.

Two other Israeli representatives expected to participate in the championships also recorded good results. Darge Chekol (Hapoel Emek Hefer) set a season-best in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 13:23.51 minutes, closing in on his personal best (13:20.79). Zamano Moche (Hapoel Holon) set a new personal best in the same event, finishing with a time of 13:35.45 minutes.

The most notable achievement was provided by Yotam Tiah (Leader Netanya), who set a new Israeli record for under-18s in the 5,000-meter run. Tiah, the Israeli youth champion, finished with a time of 14:25.64 minutes and improved the previous record, continuing his impressive breakout season and establishing his status as one of the most promising young long-distance runners in Israel.
