"Bye to my previous life": Shirley Levy reveals the moment she almost gave up

The post comes nearly a year after the tragic death of her sister, Shiran, in a motorcycle accident in Rehovot.
Social media star Shirley Levy marked a personal milestone of 600,000 followers on Sunday, sharing a video on her Instagram account filled with mixed emotions: "All of this happened thanks to you. You all know that this is the most terrible year of my life." These reflections were shared against the backdrop of the tragic death of her younger sister, Shiran (of blessed memory), in a motorcycle accident in Rehovot nearly a year ago.
According to Levy, following the loss, she considered disappearing from social media entirely.
"I said, 'That's it, I'm leaving what I'm doing. I don't want to make anyone laugh anymore, or laugh in my life again.' Bye to my previous life," she recounted.
However, once the family finished the shiva, she felt that after letting her followers into her personal life, she could not simply vanish during such a significant and difficult time.
She explained that when she uploaded her first video after the shiva, the wave of reactions she received reminded her why she loves what she does. Shirley took the opportunity to express gratitude to the followers who stood by her: "Suddenly I felt that while I had always been the one making people laugh and entertaining them, at the lowest moment of my life, you were there for me. If I were a sinking ship, your love would be my anchor."
In the video, which quickly garnered hundreds of thousands of likes, she admitted that after nearly giving up, it was the public support that saved her. "I can't imagine myself without you," she said. "Thank you for every word of encouragement, every hug, and every touching message. You opened your hearts to me, and that helped me win. If I was always making you laugh, you wrapped me in care when I needed you most."
In conclusion, she emphasized: "It is a privilege for me to be happy and continue to spread the light of my sister, Shiran." The response from the community was immediate, with many offering their support: "Our privilege as an audience is to watch your videos. Even if Shiran is not here physically, something in her is so present!" and "You are the most deserving person there is."
