Former Mali national team footballer Kalilou Traoré was killed in a car accident on Friday, according to local media reports.
Traoré, 38, made 17 appearances and scored one goal for the Mali national team. He was also part of the squad that won a bronze medal at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
The midfielder previously played for the Croatian club Istra 1961 between 2008 and 2010. As a key player, he scored nine goals during the 2008/09 season, helping the team return to the Croatian top flight.
In total, he made 52 league appearances for Istra and scored 14 goals, before continuing his career at the Danish club Odense and the French club Sochaux. He retired from professional football in 2014.
